Obituary for Emma Ellard

Sis. Emma Ellard, 91, of Singleton Mississippi was born on May 18, 1926. She passed away on
August 19, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, August 24th at the First United Pentecostal Church; with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 – 9 pm Wednesday and after 1 pm Thursday. Brother Shannon Pennington will officiate.
Sis. Ellard has been a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Kosciusko, Mississippi
since 1959. She served as a Sunday school teacher, worked together with her husband (John
Ellard) as church secretary/treasurer. She was an active member of the Ladies department,
helping with cleaning the church, making peanut brittle, selling dinner plates and any other
fundraising events as long as her health allowed.
She was a worker at the cotton mill and at several garment factories in Kosciusko, Carthage, and
Starkville and also worked at Globe Weis/Sheller Globe/Superior Coach. She was an active
member of the work force until retiring from Atapco.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Ellard Sr.; son, John "Bubba" Jr.; parents, Henry
and Ida Sivils; brothers, RH and JB Sivils; sister, Mary Brown; step daughters, Diane and Sandra;
step grandchild, Jason and foster grandchildren, Becky and Tammy.
She is survived by daughters, Shelia (William) Ryals, Renee (Johnny) Ray; step daughter, Debbie
(Virgil) Wilds; foster children, Betty Simmers, Hazel Spence, Carlene Hughes; 3 grandchildren; 2
step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and a host of foster
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
