Obituary for Charles Burchfield

Charles Burchfield
Mr. Charles Layton Burchfield, 77, of Kosciusko, passed away September 13, 2017 in Byron, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, September 17th at New Hope Baptist Church; with burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 2 - 5 pm at Culpepper Funeral Home.
Rev. Terrell Mayo and Rev. Danny Townsend will officiate services.
Mr. Charles attended Ethel High School, after that he started his career with Electrical work. He worked in North Mississippi with local Co-Ops until 1968 when he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW.) He traveled all over the Eastern States and worked in many storms. He then started working for Entergy (MP&L) until retiring in 1995. After retiring he began another career that was his passion – driving an 18-wheeler, anywhere and anytime. His family urged him to stay off the roads and be at home. It was in his blood. So we are comforted to know he was right where he chose to be at the time he went to be with our Savior.
He leaves behind his wife of over 58 years, Mary McCrory Burchfield; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Burchfield Cozart and Johnny Wayne Cozart; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Ashley Cozart Dickerson and William Dickerson; great grandsons, Layton Andrew Cozart, Daegon Alexander Ervin and Eason Holden Dickerson; brother, Leonard Walker Burchfield and wife Barbara; sisters, Ruth Burchfield Pitt and Emmie Loyce Burchfield Ivey and husband Cecil; sister-in-laws Peggy Means Burchfield and Dorothy McCrory; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob Will McCrory and David and Frances McCrory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Lee and Lillie Mae Moorehead Burchfield; brothers, Jasper Luther Burchfield, Albert Lee Burchfield, Alvin DeWitt Burchfield; sisters, Lena Louise Burchfield White and Laura Rachel Burchfield Mangrum; brothers-in-law, Bill Pitt, Billy Wayne Mangrum, William White; sister-in-law, Wilma Jones Burchfield; father and mother-in-law, Dave and Lillian Woods McCrory; brother-in-law, Freddie Lamar McCrory; sister-in-law, Johnnie Graham McCrory
