Obituary for Jean Horne Burrell

Norma Jean McCrory Horne Burrell, age 86, was born on April 30, 1933 and with her family gathered around her, went to be with the Lord at 4:15pm August 5, 2019. Jean was born in Lexington, MS. She attended Kosciusko High School where she played basketball with her sister Ernestine. Shortly afterwards, she married Pete Horne and they had 4 boys, Ronnie (Jean), Dewey (Joy), Drennon, and Keith. She was a Christian and was a member of Williamsville Baptist Church in Williamsville, MS. Jean spent most of her adult life working in the clothing industry, working both for Garan and Mississippi Sports Wear in the Kosciusko Industrial Park. Jean was an excellent cook/baker, loved dancing, gospel music, joking around and bingo every Friday afternoon at 2:00, she was the bingo queen of the nursing home. The last couple of years of her life she resided in Attala County Nursing Home in Kosciusko, MS. where Parkinson's Disease and other health issues took a toll on her. The family would like to thank the administration and staff of the nursing home for all the love and attention that she received from them. She dearly loved them and they loved her! Jean will be remembered as Gertie, Cookie, Sunshine, Jeanie, Blue Eyes, Momma Jean, Mamaw, Grandmama and a variety of other affectionate names.
Jean will be truly missed by her 7 grandchildren: Brent, Brandon, Joe, Jason, Dustin, Courtney, Drennon (bubba); 14 Great grands: Tyler, Garrett, Brexton, Addison, Haden, Ryan, Johnathon, Laike, Laila Belle, Lane, Rhys, Audrie Elizabeth, Emmy Taylor, Lilly Grace. One great great grandchild: Ashton
She is also survived and dearly loved by her sisters Barbara Suggett of Kosciusko and Linda (Jerry) Bastel of West Memphis, Ark., and sister-in-law Frankie McCrory and brother-in-law Ed Saad, also numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents Wasson and Linnie McCrory, siblings Lucille Hughes, Hayward Johnson, Ruby Kadair, Maxine Lowe, Ernestine Sadd and James Bud McCrory and by her late husbands Pete Horne, Crowder Cain and John Burrell.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Culpepper Funeral Home with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Culpepper Funeral Home.
