Obituary for Claire Lipe (Lowry)

Claire Lowry Lipe died November 20, 2019 at the home of her son Paul Lipe, in Foley, Alabama.

She was born November 2, 1923 in Boyle, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Dr. Robert C. Lowry and Estelle Olivia Amacker Lowry. She was the youngest of five children; her two brothers Lloyd Amacker Lowry and Augustus Lamar Lowry and two sisters Myrtis Lowry Gee and Ruth Lowry Hanks.

She attended Delta State University, graduating in 1942 before moving to Denver, Colorado to pursue her career in commercial art. She married James Edwin Lipe, December 20, 1948 in Denver, CO and ultimately moved to Pensacola, FL where they raised their nine children. Claire and Jim retired in Carthage, Mississippi where they built their retirement log home and lived for 30 years breeding and training Tennessee Walking horses and farming Christmas Trees.
She is survived by her children James E Lipe II, Thomas Mark Lipe, William Paul Lipe, Edward Byron Lipe, Richard Lowry Lipe and Nancy Lipe Jernigan, grandchildren James E Lipe III, Robert Earl Lipe, Benjamin Daniel Maddox, Carmel Elizabeth Maddox, Oakleigh Katherine Lipe, Jessica Danielle Lipe, Jade Elizabeth Lipe, Kenneth Joseph Lipe, Whitney Michelle Lipe, Charles Timothy Lipe, Russell Lipe, Elliot Lipe, Marshall Lipe, Thomas Kennedy Jernigan, Lauren Claire Jernigan and great grandchildren Evangeline Rose Lipe and Madelyn Michelle Lipe.

Claire recently celebrated her 96th birthday with all of her immediate family in Gulf Shores, Alabama where the celebration lasted all weekend. Many games were played and many memories were made and stories relived.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her children - Robert Earl Lipe, John Timothy Lipe and Kristi Lipe Roberts and grandson Nathan Livingston Maddox.

Graveside services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, November 29, 2109 at Attala Memory Gardens with Father Ventura presiding.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Claire Lipe to St Margaret of Scotland Catholic Parish, Building Fund, Foley, Alabama.
