Mr. Jimmy Thomas Bond, 91, our Precious “Pappaw” left this old world behind and passed into the Arms of Our Lord & Savior on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Attala County. He was a graduate of Kosciusko High School. He was a Farmer. He was a PROUD Veteran of the Korean War and he LOVED to tell his Family and friends war stories from back in the day. After returning home from The War, he worked for the Highway Patrol, but later would do what he Loved, work as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. To say He was THE BEST at what he did would be an understatement-Just ask anyone who knew him or worked with him!!!!He worked for the City and the County for a while, and he had many lifelong friends from both. He loved them all and would sit on his front porch in retirement and wave as they went by or sometimes, he’d load up and drive over to see his “old friends” as he’d call them.
He and his wife Margaret owned Bond’s Repair Service for over Fifty Years. He retired more times than we can count and then would get a call from somebody who needed something fixed and he’d come out of retirement again. He finally had to call it quits at the young age of 88 and he’d tell you the ONLY reason he did was “because these old legs are just wore out, I can’t get up and down off of the equipment like I used to”. Even after that people from all over would call “just to pick his brain or tell him “if he’d just meet them at the jobsite, they’d do the work, if he’d just “tell em what to do”…. Again, SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!
Although mechanizing was a big part of his life, it wasn’t all of his life…. There was an even BIGGER part and any who KNEW him would tell you, HE LOVED THE LORD!!!! He spoke of Him often and I can’t tell you how many have told us, they came to know The Lord because of our beloved Pappaw. He didn’t just KNOW Jesus, He LIVED Him!!! During some of the last days he had on this Earth he said “Don’t cry for me, I know where I’m going” and we KNOW where he is and we have GREAT HOPE we will see him one day because “those that live in the Lord never see each other for the last time”.
Pappaw was a character and loved to laugh and joke around and all kids LOVED him… One very particular little girl was his GREAT-GREAT Granddaughter, Baylee Raine. She demanded his attention anytime they were together!! How BLESSED is she to have gotten to know her GREAT-GREAT Granddaddy. He LOVED ALL of his Family and ALWAYS looked forward to spending time with them. To say he was an all-around great guy wouldn’t do him justice and he will be greatly missed!!
In closing, it wouldn’t be in TRUE Pappaw fashion if we didn’t type these final words…. if he were here and could write this himself, he’d want us to close with “If you are reading this and you don’t know the Lord, Don’t Wait, Get to Know him TODAY… TOMORROW is NOT Promised!!”

Tonya, Ms. Margaret & family, I’m so sorry about Mr. Jimmy, but what precious memories you all have of him. I would love to be with you all as you celebrate his Homegoing, but I am working all weekend. I know he was definitely ready to go, but your hearts weren’t ready. Losing someone so Dear is so hard. I ask God To Wrap His Arms Of Love, Mercy, Grace & Comfort around all of you in this season of your lives.
I love you, Mama Judy
