Obituary for Jeanenne Riecken

Jeanenne Pridgen Riecken, 89, of Kosciusko died August 5 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland after a brief illness.

Jeanenne, a Jackson native, graduated from Central High School, Millsaps College and Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in New Orleans. She moved from Jackson to Kosciusko following her husband’s retirement. Jeanenne was a longtime member of Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson and later Aldersgate Methodist and First United Methodist Church in Kosciusko.

Jeanenne was a talented artist, craftsperson and skilled seamstress, sewing many of her daughters’ favorite childhood outfits and her creative contributions enhanced many community theatre productions. She inherited her mother’s passion for history and genealogy and spent countless hours online and in libraries and cemeteries doing research. She and her husband enjoyed traveling during retirement years, highlighted by trips to the Holy Land, trail building on the Buffalo River in Arkansas and camping on Horn Island. Jeanenne was an avid reader and the books she shared with friends and family were always among their favorites. And she graciously shared her paintings, crafts, recipes and ideas with friends and family.

Jeanenne was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Emil Riecken, Jr., her parents, E. E. and Bobbie Pridgen and brother, Lonnie “Buck” Pridgen.
