Obituary for Janis C. Odom

Janis Carol Odom, 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 12, 2023. She had fought a brave yearlong battle with cancer and she finally won. She was born January 16, 1960 to JC and Agnes Pritchard in Durant, MS

Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Culpepper Funeral Home. Visitation also after 9:00 am Wednesday morning.

She attended Durant High School and later went on to work as the secretary for CapWeld in Kosciusko, Ackerman & Louisville until she became a full time minister’s wife. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt & Friend to many. She loved her family with everything she had and spent the last few decades of her life spoiling her grandkids rotten. She loved shopping, camping, adventures with her best friend Wanda, supporting her grandkids in their activities & just enjoying life.

She is survived by her children Bridget (Wes) Baird of Mathiston, Dustin (Ashley) Binegar of Brandon, Tori Mitchell of Kosciusko and Christopher Odom of Kosciusko. Her siblings Estelle Crane of Walnut Grove, Betty (Marion) Bishop of Winona, Dot (Mike) Thomas of Ackerman, and Billy (Kathy) Pritchard of Flower Mound, TX. Her Grandchildren Ella Grace Baird, Allie Baird, Emma Binegar, Harris Binegar, Dylan Davis, Brooklyn Mitchell, John Crenshaw, Gabriel Odom & Noah Odom. She also leaves behind her Fiancé, Paul Thacker, Best Friend, Wanda (Allen) Havens, her beloved dog Mille, as well as a host of nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers are Allen Havens, Drew Thomas, Bryan Thacker, Brett Thacker, Matthew Thornton, Gavin Edwards.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Rev. Larry Odom, Parents, JC & Agnes Pritchard, Sister, Shirley Summerlin, brothers, Charles Pritchard & Jerry Pritchard.
