Obituary for Edward "Ed" Nance

Edward "Ed"  Nance
Mr. Edward “Ed” Nance, 86, of Goodman, passed away September 13, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 15th at Goodman United Methodist Church. Rev. Sylvia Blackwell will officiate. Burial to follow at Seneasha Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14th from 5 – 8 pm at Culpepper Funeral Home.
Mr. Nance was born on January 16, 1930 in Vina, Alabama to the parents of Jack and Ilonie Nance. He received a football scholarship from Holmes Jr. College which he attended from 1949 to 1951 (and eventually was named alumnus of the year in 2004). During his time at college, he met his future wife, Billie McCrory. They married on July 6, 1953. He left college to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his education in the field of medical technology. He earned his B.S. degree from Jacksonville State University, and worked as a Medical Technologist and Purchasing Agent for the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital for almost 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed football, riding his tractor, and spending time with his family.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Veterans Nursing Home for their support in his final days.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Billie Nance; daughter, Laura Nance; sons, Darrell (Marla) Nance and Steve (Tricia) Nance; brother, Jerry Nance; and 6 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Goodman United Methodist Church or Seneasha Cemetery.
